No. 111 'Yvette'

This locomotive is based on the LNER designed D49 class which were all named after Hunts and Shires. She carries a distinctive LNER apple-green livery. The locomotive was built by E Craven in 1946. She was built for Mr Younger, who had a private line at his home 'Redlands' at Ponteland, County Durham, known as the 'Redlands Railroad' and lines in Newcastle at Bull Park and/or the Town Moor. However the locomotive had not been completed at the time of Mr Younger's death, and so, although some twenty years old, had not run. The locomotive then moved to Tom Tate's 'North Eastern Railway' in Haswell by 1971. Some of the NER equipment went to the Medina Valley project on the Isle of Wight but never ran, and was acquired in 1980 by Lightwater Valley. Yvette was the last steam locomotive resident at Lightwater, the last few years in store off the running line there. She was then purchased by Chris Bullmer and moved into his garage in store, with little or no work being carried out. She came to the CCLR on loan in time for 'SeaSteam 100' in 2005, and was restored to running condition in 2006.
