S.M.R. No.2'Sutton Flyer'

This locomotive was the second of Douglas Clayton's locomotives, unfortunately it was not completed until 1950 by the Griffin Foundry, by which time it was in Sutton Miniature Railway ownership. This locomotive did not see regular service until 1953, the time when SMR No3's boiler ticket expired. Sutton Flyer differs from Sutton Belle, as it has a screw reverser (Sutton Belle has a lever), slightly smaller driving wheels (which aid adhesion in the wet) and a larger tender (giving more coal and water capacity). She moved to Cleethorpes, along with the rest of the Sutton Collection in 2002, where she was restored to running order. During her time at Cleethorpes, she has also visited other railways, including The Rhyl Miniature railway, The Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway (repeating a visit she made there under S.M.R. ownership in 1959), and The Kirklees Light railway.
