Bassett-Lowke No.11 'Mighty Atom' / 'Prince of Wales'

This locomotive was originally completed 1909 by Bassett-Lowke of Northampton, it is know as a Class 10, and was originally named 'Mighty Atom'. It was ordered new by Miniature Railways of Great Britain Ltd (MRGB) for use on the newly regauged line at Sutton Park in Sutton Coldfield. During 1910 it visited France as part of an exhibition, it was renamed 'Ville De Nancy' for this event, where it ran alongside Bassett Lowke classmate No.12 'Entente Cordialle'. It left Sutton in 1919, moving to the Southport Railway, where it was rebuilt by G.V. Llewelyn, and renamed 'Prince of Wales'. She eventually moved on to the (Great) Yarmouth Miniature Railway (YMR). In 1938 she was acquired from the YMR, along with other equipment for the newly reopened Sutton Miniature Railway. In 1953 she was steamed for the last time.
