DA1 (Diesel Assistant/Diesel Auxiliary No.1)

This locomotive was built by the Bush Mills Railway in 1986. It was originally built as a assisting power unit for BMR locomotive 'Mountaineer', as it could not pull a fully loaded 5 coach train on it's own up the steeply graded BMR line. 'Mountaineer' was eventually rebuilt making it much more powerful, and leaving DA1 redundant. DA1 was then rebuilt as a shunting locomotive, and remained at Bush Mills until it's closure in 2004. This locomotive moved to Cleethorpes, along with the rest of the BMR Collection, in 2006.
