'The Cub' / 'John'

The Cub was built by Minirail in 1954. It started life at Severn Beach and then went to Longleat where it ran until Minirail left Longleat in 1974. It had a 10hp Cub Marine Engine and was chain driven to the rear bogie. In 1974 it went to the Axe & Lyme railway until 1976, Birnbeck Pier until 1979 and then Carnforth until 1992. It was rebuilt with a new engine and new bodywork in 1993 at the CCLR. In 1993 it was renamed 'John' and emerged with a new wheel configuration of 0-4-0 Bo. She left traffic c1999 and was stored for some time. Approximatly 3 years ago the rebuild commenced, which has seen a new engine added after the old one was found to be seized.
